The Hyperloop would be a low-reward target for passenger-borne terrorism. Can?t redirect. Blow one up? The other pods automatically brake.
  • Peter N Lewis:
automatically brake – and then what? You’ve now got hundreds of people stuck in capsules in a 100km tube?
  • Daniel Jalkut:
Good point. I guess that?s what beta testing is for ;)
  • Peter N Lewis:
I’m trying to work out the throughput of the system. Seems to be around 450 people per hour, which doesn’t seem like a lot?

Seems to me that throughput is easily increased in v1.1 of the pods.

  • Peter N Lewis:
840/hour is certainly more reasonable. LAX does 13K/day domestic. Not sure what the I5 does LA<->San Fran

Based on Megabus in Northeast, demand will expand if they price for capacity. Nearly all buses run full.

  • Mike Monteiro:
Just saw World War Z. Nice to see Philadelphia getting the respect of being blown up in a summer movie.

I’m still impressed by the Twelve Monkeys memory of elephants stampeding outside Franklin Field at Penn.

  • Christopher Soghoian:
“If the news reports are true about my employer sharing data on all customers with the NSA, I’ll quit” said no Verizon/AT&T executive, ever.

  • Rich Siegel:
Unreproducible bug has been reproduced and squashed flat. /flex KNEEL BEFORE ZOD

You forced it to mate before dying? What kind of bug was it, a mantis?

  • Rich Siegel:
I said “reproduced”, not “duplicated”. I’m not *completely* heartless. :-)

  • Josh Centers:
Boggles my mind how quickly some people are to attack Snowden and defend the NSA.

Always the case. Can’t think of a single era in US history when the whistleblower wasn’t pilloried first.

  • Brett Kelly:
I need a Mac app to create a podcast (create XML, upload media, etc.). Podcast Maker is out of date. What?s your favorite?
  • Josh Centers:
At , we use a Doug Adams AppleScript called PodBOT to handle all of that. :-)

Best thing about Doug Adams’ AppleScripts is how they wrap the whole thing in a Somebody Else’s Problem field.

  • Alan Sepinwall:
Watching Rockford Files on Netflix. Like many ’70s shows, each hour opens w/trailer for the ep. Would cause spoiler apoplexy today.

Worked for BSG.

  • John Scalzi:
I see a lot of people angling for Tilda Swinton, but if we’re going to go that direction for the Doctor: EMMA THOMPSON, PEOPLE.

If you’re going to talk Thompson, we also have to ask for Fry and Laurie involvement.

  • Glenn Fleishman:
What is the best place to get a one-off T-shirt done with high quality over the Internet for 1-1,000 quantity for individual ordering?
  • Glenn Fleishman:
T-shirt clarification: place where I can sell a one-off shirt that people can order individually?
  • Chuq Von Rospach:
    I know cafepress does that.
  • Chris Breen:
I?d suggest you order more than 1,000 ?Glenn is my Co-pilot? shirts.

The answer to this could be an excellent article. Assuming doesn’t want it….

Personally, I’d need a much better definition of “glenning” before I’d stick him in the cockpit of my Cessna.

Every review of Cafepress I’ve ever read says high prices, low quality.

  • Glenn Fleishman:
Sorta my concern. I like Teespring?s model of crowdshirting.

Crowdshirting? Is that a thing now?
