- Daniel Jalkut:
The Hyperloop would be a low-reward target for passenger-borne terrorism. Can?t redirect. Blow one up? The other pods automatically brake.
- Peter N Lewis:
@danielpunkass automatically brake – and then what? You’ve now got hundreds of people stuck in capsules in a 100km tube?
- Daniel Jalkut:
@peternlewis Good point. I guess that?s what beta testing is for ;)
- Peter N Lewis:
@danielpunkass I’m trying to work out the throughput of the system. Seems to be around 450 people per hour, which doesn’t seem like a lot?
- Kevin van Haaren:
@peternlewis @danielpunkass ars technica put it at 890 people an hour.
@kvanh @peternlewis @danielpunkass Seems to me that throughput is easily increased in v1.1 of the pods.
- Peter N Lewis:
@jeffporten @kvanh @danielpunkass 840/hour is certainly more reasonable. LAX does 13K/day domestic. Not sure what the I5 does LA<->San Fran
@peternlewis @kvanh @danielpunkass Based on Megabus in Northeast, demand will expand if they price for capacity. Nearly all buses run full.
