This article answers contradictory information I’ve seen on Facebook. Cop fatalities are lower than they’ve been in decades; cop *shootings* are up, but most of that is post-Dallas.

What strikes me is a cultural change similar to what happened with astronauts; we used to have a perception that “this job is dangerous”. That’s why we call both “heroes”.
