• Josh Centers:
Boggles my mind how quickly some people are to attack Snowden and defend the NSA.

Always the case. Can’t think of a single era in US history when the whistleblower wasn’t pilloried first.

  • Jesse Spector:
FINAL: Blackhawks 4 (Hossa, Handzus, Bickell, Frolik), Red Wings 3 (Eaves, Andersson, Bickell). On to Game 7. Penalty shot the difference.

Coincidentally, Blackhawks vs. Red Wings was also the last major battle of the Permian extinction.

Up next week: Uncle Tom’s Cabin with the races of the actors reversed. And then maybe never going to a theater ever again.

Facebook tells me that a college classmate is performing in Lend Me a Tenor. Might help if you need a palate cleansing sorbet.

  • erika owens:
hmm, i think i need a break, but hope the run goes great.

I just found a review raving about the show. Might have to go see it.

  • Mike Monteiro:
Just saw World War Z. Nice to see Philadelphia getting the respect of being blown up in a summer movie.

I’m still impressed by the Twelve Monkeys memory of elephants stampeding outside Franklin Field at Penn.

  • Daniel Jalkut:
The Hyperloop would be a low-reward target for passenger-borne terrorism. Can?t redirect. Blow one up? The other pods automatically brake.
  • Peter N Lewis:
automatically brake – and then what? You’ve now got hundreds of people stuck in capsules in a 100km tube?
  • Daniel Jalkut:
Good point. I guess that?s what beta testing is for ;)
  • Peter N Lewis:
I’m trying to work out the throughput of the system. Seems to be around 450 people per hour, which doesn’t seem like a lot?

Seems to me that throughput is easily increased in v1.1 of the pods.

  • Peter N Lewis:
840/hour is certainly more reasonable. LAX does 13K/day domestic. Not sure what the I5 does LA<->San Fran

Based on Megabus in Northeast, demand will expand if they price for capacity. Nearly all buses run full.

  • erika owens:
“the more things change, the more they stay the same.” There. Now you don’t have to see “Reasons to Be Happy.”

Remove the quotes from this tweet, and it reads like Fortune Cookies of the Damned.

  • erika owens:
ha, that’s great. I’m just bummed. I was expecting some gut punching and just left muttering “wtf was that?”

I’m unfamiliar with either play and had to Google to figure out what you were talking about. Were you in NYC?

  • erika owens:
yeah, passing through. Highly recommend the first. Highly. A whole lot. Enjoyed 2 more hours of it tonight, but had higher hopes

  • Brett Kelly:
I need a Mac app to create a podcast (create XML, upload media, etc.). Podcast Maker is out of date. What?s your favorite?
  • Josh Centers:
At , we use a Doug Adams AppleScript called PodBOT to handle all of that. :-)

Best thing about Doug Adams’ AppleScripts is how they wrap the whole thing in a Somebody Else’s Problem field.

  • Rich Siegel:
Unreproducible bug has been reproduced and squashed flat. /flex KNEEL BEFORE ZOD

You forced it to mate before dying? What kind of bug was it, a mantis?

  • Rich Siegel:
I said “reproduced”, not “duplicated”. I’m not *completely* heartless. :-)
