So long as we agree peanut butter M&M’s are trash. RT : pretzel M&M’s are good but they will never be superior to peanut M&M’s.

Please feel free to place your peanut butter M&Ms in a separate wastebasket, then dispose by sending to me. Philistine.

  • Jesse Spector:
Shout out to the Terminal 2 crew that tossed an extra hash brown in my bag after screwing up my order at first!

That is somehow simultaneously awesome and a massive waste of good karma.

They are pretty fucking yummy.

  • Jesse Spector:
Possibly the best thing they serve. Definitely in the conversation.

  • Peter Cohen:
The 17yo just went off to high school for the last time. Gave his bus driver some nice potted mums and a thank you card.

So, how old are *you* feeling right now?

  • Jesse Spector:
Guy on airport shuttle talking about the F train and I find myself wistful for home. When will I get back to NYC? Who knows?

What makes you wistful about the F train? Is it open bar or something?

  • Telecomix:
The CNN iReports are interesting, but it’s annoying that CNN lend their name to completely unverified info…

What amazes me is that I’ve been contacted by people calling themselves “CNN iReporters”, and CNN doesn’t stomp on them.

  • Melody Joy Kramer:
If a relationship were measured in terms of emails received, banana republic and I would be getting married next week.

and most of the country would be married to Barack and Michelle.

  • Jeff Jarvis:
Garg. World Newspaper Congress WiFi utterly borked.

I’m surprised you don’t carry a tether or three.

  • Jeff Jarvis:
not when I’m halfway around the world

Give me a few minutes to look up your conference?I’ll see if I can find temp accounts where you are.

Okay, I have friends in Bangkok… will check with them and tweet at you if I can find a short-term fix.

  • Tom Negrino:
Very interesting piece; I especially appreciated the link to the ?Acupuncture is a theatrical placebo? article.
  • Andrew Laurence:
a friend uses and loves it. Fully aware that it’s likely placebo woo woo, but apparently it’s woo enough.

Thumbs up, .

Current research: acupuncture applied to random body points as effective as “real” thing.

We can’t tell difference between needles and toothpicks, so go with a practitioner who doesn’t break the skin.

Minimizes infection risk for same placebo benefit.

?: Inara: “See you two tomorrow.” Kaylee: “Bye, now. Have good sex.”? // now that she’s on Homeland, this is almost cruel

The other account is a fan site of some kind. Not sure who they are, but they have some fun links.

  • Jason Snell:
I love Matt Smith, but being a fan is all about change, my dear, and not a moment too soon. Bring on the 12th…

Aren’t we supposed to be assuming it’s the 13th at this point?

  • Jason Snell:
all part of Moffat’s evil plan
  • Chuq Von Rospach:
why are we assuming there is only ONE former doctor they?ve hidden from us?

That would be one hell of a season: Clara w/ in-between Doctors from the classic show.

  • Jason Snell:
In Big Finish audios the 8th Doctor lost a companion who was then picked up by the 6th. Wacky.

I’ve been veeerrrryyy slowly catching up on classic Who?currently on Pertwee ’72. Big Finish comes next if I’m not “done”.

  • Chuq Von Rospach:
it?s interesting to wander back into Old Who. But I cut my teeth on Tom Baker and faded after Davison.

Come to think of it, the much wackier crossover is the 5th Doctor being the 10th’s father-in-law.

  • Chuq Von Rospach:
at some level your definition of ?who? is defined by where you came in on the timeline.

Tom Baker was “my” Doctor on PBS, but never watched consistently enough to remember it.

  • Chuq Von Rospach:
that said, this new incarnation is my favorite by far. Tennant/Smith faves, then Eccleston, then baker.
  • Chuq Von Rospach:
Pertwee?s doctor can best be described as, well, quaint. and troughton is tough to get into.

I dunno. Hartnell/Troughton/Pertwee all have their moments; main reasons I dislike some shows is variable writing quality.

I suspect Troughton would be fave of the 1st three if more of his eps were available. As is, tie with Pertwee.

  • Chuq Von Rospach:
yeah. (I?m really curious how BBC is going to handle the next couple of ?history of the doctor? specials?..)

New series not being judged in same breath as classic. Like comparing Shatner to Pine?audiences/productions too different.

  • Chuq Von Rospach:
The tom baker episode, frankly, came across as ?man,he?s a jerk, but we have to do this?.?
  • Chuq Von Rospach:
agreed. and old series were aimed at children. New series is for adults. huge difference.
  • Jason Snell:
I think that doesn?t go far enough, because 1963 Doctor Who was nothing like 1983 either.

I’ll let you know when I get there. Sometime in 2018 at the rate I’m going.

I’m genuinely curious to see if 6th and 7th are as atrocious as I’ve been warned.

  • Chuq Von Rospach:
Colin Baker wasn?t terrible, but? wasn?t much. And after that, it was time for the series to hibernate. But it didn?t.
  • Jason Snell:
Even the old show had elements (like the female assistants) that were ?for the dads”
  • Jason Snell:
There are some great 6th episodes, actually. Notably Vengeance on Varos and Revelation of the Daleks.
  • Jason Snell:
7th is insane. I?m not a fan. It?s like a pure fantasy series at that point.

Watching the Jo Grant seasons now, which makes that obvious. And Wendy Padbury stands out among prior companions.

  • Chuq Von Rospach:
I?m still partial to Leela, but god, that?s probably my age at the time speaking.

  • Wil Wheaton:
Matt Smith is not your bitch. If he’s finished being The Doctor, the only thing we say is, “thank you.”

Agreed, but it’s not like it’s *our* fault that a certain SF series set 7 seasons as the satiation point.

More upset about Matt Smith than Jean Stapleton. I think that officially makes me an asshole.

  • Patrick Matthews:
We’ve known that unofficially for some time :)

PGA statute of limitations has expired and is supposed to be expunged from my record.
